Remarkable concert at the newest location of Superar Suisse
“Social change with the help of music” – with this guiding principle, the Hilti Foundation supports 10 projects across the globe. By engaging in music as part of a choir or an orchestra, children from socially deprived groups learn what it means to be part of a community. They discover their own talents, learn that it requires commitment and determination to get on in life and at the same time also improve their self-confidence, social competence and their performance at school.
Music can also be the key to integration. Superar has worked with this ambition in Europe since 2011 and has established a thriving and continuously growing base in Switzerland. The most recent subsidiary was founded last autumn in Lugano and its students have now performed their first concert at the LAC, the new cultural centre in Lugano.
With the help of children from Superar Zurich and Basel, and with guests from Sistema Lombardia, the young musicians from Ticino showed what they had learned in their choirs and orchestras in the space of just a few months. Visitors in the completely sold-out LAC experienced a real spectacle of commitment and vitality. And even if a few notes here and there were out of tune, the children’s commitment and pride in performing on the renowned stage was clear for all to see - a successful evening for all involved and an incentive to continue along this path.
