FOUR STORIES FROM PERU
Voices of Transformation
In Peru, where inequality often defines a young person's future, music is quietly rewriting life stories. Since 2013, the Hilti Foundation has partnered with Sinfonía por el Perú—our most significant collaboration in Music for Social Change—to support a program that now reaches over 6,400 children and teens in the country's most vulnerable communities.
In this four-part series, we follow the journeys of a Venezuelan refugee who delivers newspapers by dawn and plays trumpet by dusk, a former singer turned accountant, a young psychologist who teaches piano, and a conservatory-trained musician guiding youth through their first performances.
Their stories show how music can become a tool for building confidence, strengthening families, and imagining futures once thought out of reach.

Two Paths to the Same Future
“In my community, there are many dangerous temptations. Music helped me stay on track.”

“I’ve seen police chasing criminals right through here. Maybe it’s because the parents lack education or because young people don’t have spaces where they can grow.”
