Climbing up a musical scale – Lima, Peru

Jahan’s schedule is always busy. He dreams of an international education and a career as an orchestra musician and teacher.  A comprehensive, internationally networked music program, supported by the Hilti Foundation, makes this possible.

His day starts early. At 5:30 am the young Peruvian is already making his way from a poor suburban settlement to the capital of Lima about 90 minutes away to manage his busy workload. An early-morning English course is followed by individual flute lessons before orchestra rehearsals which last several hours. Afterwards, the talented musician teaches younger students himself, which allows him to pay for his English lessons.

Once he has completed his education, Jahan plans to return to Peru to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation.

This is the story of Jahan.
