Transforming Lives: Join Our Journey
John’s Electric Journey from Poverty to Purpose
From a cramped Nairobi apartment to the high-rises of Spring Valley, John Njui’s journey is wired with grit and hope. Once stuck in theory‑heavy training that led nowhere, he now thrives on the PropelA program—trusted with real responsibilities, gaining real skills, and shaping a real future. Each dawn commute, each lift wired, each generator installed brings him closer to the life he once thought impossible.
Where Personal Engagement has Social Impact
Since 2009, the BOOKBRIDGE Foundation has connected responsible managers with entrepreneurs in disadvantaged regions to build sustainable social enterprises. Through its long-standing partnership with BOOKBRIDGE, Hilti enables employees to create measurable social impact while gaining new leadership perspectives. A recent project in Sri Lanka shows how personal engagement can drive lasting change for local communities and professionals alike.
Side by Side for Humanity
Since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, an estimated 1.5 million people have been killed or seriously injured — making it the most devastating war in Europe since the Second World War. From the first days of the invasion, Doctors Without Borders has been on the ground, working to sustain emergency treatment for the wounded and essential medical care for civilians.
Building Houses for Peace
What began in 2014 with twelve Hilti trainees helping build two houses in Srebrenica has grown into a large-scale EBB initiative: 1,000 employees have since built over 225 homes and contributed 42,000 volunteer hours. Namir Porić, part of the project from day one and now director of House of Good Tones, reflects on this remarkable partnership in the interview.
A Helping Hand Into the Workforce
Sri Lanka has been pushed to its limits more than once in recent history. In 2004, the devastating tsunami struck a country already grappling with deep economic, political and social pressures. What started at the time as a donation from the Hilti family and the Hilti Group has since grown into a meaningful Engaged Beyond Business (EBB) initiative: sustained support for the vocational training center established in Monaragala.
Need Has Many Faces, as Does Relief
A war like the one in Ukraine impacts far more than the front lines. While fighting continues, civilians endure hardship on many other levels. To support those affected, both the Hilti Foundation and Hilti employees contribute to Doctors Without Borders and to a range of projects aimed at easing the many forms of suffering experienced by people on the ground.
